Adding cables for Sky+ to a single feed communal TV system.
This is relevant if you live in a or manage a communal residence such as flats, apartments and retirement property that has an older communal TV system, with a shared sky dish and an IRS or MATV system.
Originally with a single cable feed to each flat from a shared sky dish, TV aerial and radio aerials you can happily supply freeview digital TV, FM and DAB Radio; and one feed for Sky television. However Sky+ requires 2 feeds to function correctly, leading to failed Sky recordings and interrupted Sky viewing
This is due to the Sky set top box having two tuners within it. One to watch and one to record, this allows you to watch one TV channel whilst recording the other.
We carry out the full range of Sky Communal TV work so we have the experience to upgrade your communal IRS system to allow full Sky+ functionality. Sometimes this can be done on a flat by flat basis as and when it is requires, but it is always more cost effective to swap over the whole communal IRS head end allowing all flats or apartments to benefit from Sky+ HD.
It varies depending on individual properties layout and construction, but this communal Sky+ system upgrade can normally be carried out without any additional cabling and no invasive work.
